Pete Magill gets extra fluffy!
FBTC Masters Star Pete Magill has been tearing up the track this spring. Running several American Masters Records. Go Pete!
First up was the 3k and Pete lowered his own M45 record to 8:36.86 at the 2008 Trojan Relays. See this post over at MastersTrack.com for more, and see this thread at Letsrun.com for Pete's recap of his 3k record run.
Then, a week later, at the Ben Brown Invitational at Mt. SAC, Pete took on the 5k and put the M45 record way down there at 14:34.27, a 10-second improvement on his own record from last year! Lots more info on this race, including a recap and news of Tony Young dipping under Pete's 3k record indoors at UW's big oval can be found over at MastersTrack.com.
Recent races at 1500m (notably at Steve Scott and the Oxy Invitational) suggest that Pete may be on track (no pun intended) to take a shot at the M45 record at that distance as well. The current record is 3:56.39. Maybe they'll set up a camera at the 1500m mark at the Master's Mile up in Oregon at the end of May?
In older news, Pete also did a nice job of capturing the "Fluffy Ethos" in a post on the MastersTrack.com forums. Check it out.
As an aside, and a quick plug for our club sponsor, Nike, Pete is loving the new Ventulus 2 spike, and David Olds had great things to say about the new Luna Racer. The SportBand is also a new favorite.
